Pamphilos (painter)
Pamphilos was a Greek painter from Amphipolis in Macedonia , who around 390 BC. Until around 350 BC Lived.
Pamphilos founded the Sicyon school of painting with his teacher Eupompus . He had a thorough scientific education and was also active as a writer.
Is known, which were prepared by him sentence that without mathematics and geometry , the painting could not be brought to completion. Anyone who wanted to take lessons from him had to commit to a twelve-year course and a fee of one talent (equivalent to a sailing ship). Nonetheless, the number of his pupils was considerable, the largest among them Apelle .
