Pan y Arte ( Spanish for: bread and art ) is a non-profit, registered association based in Münster to promote cultural projects in Nicaragua . The foundation of the internationally active aid organization was initiated by Dietmar Schönherr , who was chairman of the board until 2006. He was followed by Henning Scherf , who held the office until 2017 and has been Honorary Chairman since then. Since then, Roberto Deimel has been chairman of the board. There are sister associations in Austria ( Vienna ) and Switzerland ( Zurich ).

Four self-organized projects are currently supported in Nicaragua:

• Casa de los tres mundos (founded by Dietmar Schönherr together with Ernesto Cardenal)
• Música en los Barrios
• Bibliobus ´Bertolt Brecht`
• Malacatoya (village development project)

In parallel to this commitment to Nicaragua, Pan y Arte supports the Kultur Bewegt initiative .
