Panacea

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Panacea (in German panacea ) is a mythical universal remedy (or - medicine / medicament ) for the treatment of all possible diseases .

The search for such a cure, like the search for the “ philosopher's stone ” and the “ solvent for all substances ”, was a task of alchemy .

The name is derived from the Greek Πανάκεια Panakeia , German 'all healing' , a daughter of Asclepius , the god of healing in Greek mythology . Today the terms panacea or panacea are often used in an ironic sense to denote an illusory universal solution to all problems.
