Pantelej Sarev

Pantelej Sarew , actually Pantelej Jordanow Pantow , ( Bulgarian Пантелей Йорданов Зарев ; born November 11, 1911 in Vidin , † February 18, 1997 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian literary scholar .

Life

Sarew was active as a professor at the University of Sofia from 1950 , whose rector he was from 1968 to 1972. From 1966 he was a member of the party's central committee . From 1972 to 1980 he was chairman of the Bulgarian Writers' Association . He was a member of the Bulgarian Communist Party . He was also a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences . In 1968 he became vice president of the academy.

He was honored as a Hero of Socialist Labor and the Dimitrov Prize .
