Paolito Somazzi
Paolito Somazzi (born July 4, 1873 in Montevideo , † March 29, 1914 in Rivera ), a descendant of immigrants from Barbengo , was a Swiss architect who, as a hotel building architect , shaped the construction of Lugano after the turn of the century.
Life
After studying in Winterthur , Somazzi worked in his father's company, the building contractor Gaudenzio Somazzi. In 1899 he opened his own office. In addition to the numerous buildings that he created in Lugano, especially villas, apartment blocks and hotels, his buildings can be found from Locarno to Rimini . Somazzi was a local politician in the Lugano municipal council. He was a co-founder of the Ticino Association for Cremation.
