Paolo Bonacelli

Paolo Bonacelli (born February 28, 1939 in Civita Castellana ) is an Italian actor .

Life

Bonacelli studied at the Accademia d'Arte Drammatica , where he also received his acting diploma in 1962. He then appeared on stage alongside Vittorio Gassman and worked with director Luigi Squarzina . In 1963 he was first seen on the screen, where he regularly found work in television films. Under game masters such as Mario Missiroli , Franco Enriquez , Giorgio Pressburger and Ugo Gregoretti , he was still looking to perfect his art of representation.

Bonacelli was seen in the film from 1964 in occasional supporting roles; only Liliana Cavanis Milarepa used his skills in a leading role. He gained further fame in 1975 as Prince Blangis in The 120 Days of Sodom by Pier Paolo Pasolini . He also starred in the award-winning drama Midnight Express in 1978 and in the historical film Caligula in 1979 . In this film he plays the Roman senator Cassius Chaerea , who was involved in the assassination of the Roman emperor Caligula . In 2010 he took on a role in The American .

In 1992 Bonacelli was awarded a Silver Ribbon for his role in Roberto Benigni's Toothpick Johnny for Best Supporting Actor.
