Ugo Gregoretti

Ugo Gregoretti (born September 28, 1930 in Rome - † July 5, 2019 ) was an Italian documentary filmmaker , film director and screenwriter .

Life

Gregoretti began working for the RAI in 1953 , mainly working on political and social issues. In 1960 he became known for the “Controfagotto” rubric, in which he mixed reports and fiction. In the documentary area he broke new ground in 1968 with the non-conformist staged Il circolo Pickwick , which was followed by numerous works on political topics such as the Vietnam War , Roman fascism or communism, to which he was also privately close, by the mid-1990s , which were also shown in the cinema were seen.

From 1985 to 1989 Gregoretti was director of the “Stabile di Torino” theater, where he mainly staged lyrical works. Occasionally, especially in the 1960s, he went on trips to film. His best-known work is probably the satire Herr Doktor, Die Leiche Leben , for which he contributed the script as in his other films. In the 1980s Gregoretti also took up some offers as an actor. In 2010 he was awarded the Italian Film Journalists' Prize of Honor.
