Paolo Cirino Pomicino (born September 3, 1939 in Naples ) is an Italian politician . He was a minister in Italy from 1988 to 1992 and a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2006 .

Life

Cirino Pomicino was born the fifth of seven children. The film director Franco Cirino (1926–1979) and the actor Bruno Cirino (1936–1981) were his brothers. Paolo Cirino Pomicino studied medicine and surgery and specialized in neuropsychiatry .

In 1976 he was first elected to the Camera dei deputati for the Democrazia Cristiana , of which he was a member until 1994. 1983 to 1988 he headed the Budget Committee. From 1988 to 1989 he was Minister of Public Service (Ministro della Funzione Pubblica) in the government of Ciriaco De Mitas and from 1989 to 1992 under Giulio Andreotti Minister of Budget (Ministro del Bilancio e della Programmazione Economica) .

He is married and has two children, including the film director Ilaria Cirino . In the film Il Divo he was played by Carlo Buccirosso .
