Paolo Martin (born May 7, 1943 in Turin ) is an Italian designer .

Professional development

After training in Turin, Martin began his professional career in 1960 in the field of automotive design in the studio of Giovanni Michelotti . From 1966 he worked for Bertone before moving to Pininfarina in 1967 . In the following five years, Martin designed - often in collaboration with Leonardo Fioravanti - a number of outstanding, now classic automobiles, which at times were mere styling studies, but often with a few changes were mass-produced, some of which were also mass-produced. The designs of the Fiat 130 Coupé and the Rolls-Royce Camargue were of particular importance here . Today Martin describes the Pininfarina Modulo from 1970 as his most successful design.

After a short collaboration with Carrozzeria Ghia in 1971, Martin settled down as a freelance designer in 1972. In the first few years he designed numerous motorcycles for the Benelli and Moto Guzzi brands, which belong to the de Tomaso group, as well as for Gilera . At the same time, other designs for automobiles were created, many of which remained studies and individual pieces. Today, in addition to land vehicles, Martin primarily designs boats and utensils.
