Paonta Sahib is a city ( Municipal Council ) in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh .
Paonta Sahib is located in the Sirmaur district . In the 2011 census, the population was 25,183. Of these, 78% were Hindus , 15% Sikhs and 5% Muslims . The city lies at an altitude of 400 m at the foot of the Front Himalayas on the right bank of the Yamuna .
