The Kabel paper factory , founded in the Kabel district of Hagen in 1896 , produces lightweight, graphically coated printing papers and wood fibers. The plant has been operating under the name Kabel Premium Pulp & Paper GmbH since 2016 . The company employs around 560 people.

Products

Kabel Premium produces high-quality coated magazine and catalog papers as rolls and sheets on two paper machines. At the Kabel location, in addition to the two paper machines, the company operates the largest format equipment and the largest wood grinding shop in Europe, a steam / electricity power plant as well as a biomass power plant and its own sewage treatment plant. The factory also produces high-volume papers and papers for digital printing. The annual production capacity is 450,000 tons of high quality single and double coated, wood containing graphic papers, which are used for both offset and gravure printing.

Production line 4
Production line 4 has a working width of 7.20 m and a capacity of 190,000 t / a. It specializes in the production of the highest quality gravure printing. At a speed of up to 1,330 m / min, weights per unit area of ​​39 to 90 g / m² can be produced.
Production line 5
Production line 5 has a working width of 7.20 m and a capacity of 260,000 t / a. It specializes in the production of premium quality offset papers (single and double coating). The working speed is up to 1,350 m / min with weights from 57 to 115 g / m².
Format department
Kabel Premium operates one of the largest format departments in Europe with a capacity of 120,000 t / a. The format services are also offered to third parties.

Investments

The company has been operating a combined steam and electricity power plant at the Kabel location since 2014, which produces the steam required for drying paper. Until the 19 million euro plant was commissioned, the nearby Hagen-Kabel cogeneration plant was used for steam production.

logistics

The Kabel plant is centrally located in Europe and in close proximity to the largest paper converters and printing plants, which results in low transport costs. The paper produced is transported to the customer via the company's own rail connection and truck. The in-house logistics process more than 17,000 orders from around 500 customers each year.

According to Kabel Premium, environmental protection is an important concern. With the establishment of the Kabel-Naturstiftung the company wants to underline this claim. Together with the foundation, Kabel Premium offers its customers guaranteed CO 2 -neutral paper that is sold under the Kabel ZERO brand .
