The cardboard comes from the field of packaging technology and is of stabilized paper ( cardboard or in conjunction with paperboard produced). For every type of outer packaging, there are cardboard boxes in various strengths and sizes. When folded, it takes up little space in the warehouse. Corrugated cardboard is mainly used to protect sensitive goods or goods .

Cardboard should, like other papers also, as part of the waste sorting the paper recycling are fed. They do not belong in the residual waste . They are recycled in paper mills but are also exported, especially to China. The export makes little sense ecologically and is politically undesirable. In Germany, the export of waste paper and cardboard fell to around a quarter between 2000 and 2009. Switzerland became an importer.
