Papyrus 75 (after Gregory-Aland 75 , Papyrus Bodmer XIV – XV ) is a very early papyrus of the New Testament . Originally it contained around 144 pages, 102 of which have survived either in full or in part. It "contains half the text of [...] two Gospels" - Luke ( Papyrus Bodmer XIV) and John ( Papyrus Bodmer XV) - in Greek . It was dated by Nestle-Aland (27th ed.) As an early third century manuscript. It is one of the oldest manuscripts (together with 4 ) of the Gospel of Luke . “The remaining fragment contains Luke 3: 18–24: 53 [...]”. "A special feature of this code is the fact that Luke ends on the same page where the Gospel of John begins."
The Greek text of this code is of the Alexandrian text type . Kurt Aland placed it in Category I a. The text is closer to the Codex Vaticanus than to the Codex Sinaiticus . The correspondence between 75 and codex B is 92% in John and 94% in Luke. It matches 111 .
The manuscript is currently kept in the Vatican Library in Rome .
The discovery of 75 had a profound impact on the textual criticism of the New Testament , as it fits in perfectly with the Codex Vaticanus.
