Recording technology

The same technique is a special, with a film holder according to Elgin Rinn performed X-ray technology in dentistry .

The X-ray film is aligned with the parallel art by means of the film holder parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tooth, the central beam is oriented parallel to a guide rail on the holder, so that it is perpendicular to the film plane. If the parallel technique is not possible for anatomical reasons (lack of space for film or holder in the mouth), the half-angle technique is used .

Ideally, the parallel technique and the right-angle technique should produce identical recordings, since the aim in both techniques is to align the film and tooth planes in parallel and the central beam is perpendicular on both planes.

The limbus alveolaris (bony alveolar margin) is shown undistorted. The tooth itself is shown somewhat enlarged. Often, however, the complete representation of the tooth is not possible.
