Parietaria cretica is a species of plant in the nettle family (Urticaceae).

features

Parietaria cretica is a mostly annual, rarely persistent creeping therophyte or stem hemicryptophyte . The species reaches a stature height of 5 to 25, rarely up to 50 centimeters. The leaves are 3 to 15 millimeters long and broadly ovate to broadly elliptical. The showy bracts are brown and hardened when the plant is fruiting. At their bottom they are more or less strongly sagged and overgrown. They form a shell of 5 parts around the inflorescence. The inflorescence is three-flowered.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 12.

Occurrence

Parietaria cretica occurs in the eastern Mediterranean. It grows on rocks and walls.
