Parisienne (brand of cigarettes)
Parisienne ( French Parisian ) is a cigarette - mark of the second largest Swiss cigarette manufacturer British American Tobacco (BAT). In 2003 it had a market share of 13.7%, making it the best-selling cigarette brand in Switzerland after Marlboro . The production site has been Boncourt in the canton of Jura since the company was founded by the Alsatian Martin Burrus in 1887 .
After product classifications such as MILD or LIGHT had been banned as part of the restrictions on advertising for tobacco products , the corresponding Parisienne varieties were renamed without changing the recipe. The NOIRE variety was also introduced as part of a sales promotion measure at the kiosks .
The brand used to be common in Switzerland under the name Parisiennes . Parisiennes Filtres are now manufactured by Altadis in Argentina.
In the 1990s, a lavish advertising campaign called Parisienne People was run, in which one spot was shot by a well-known film director.
Parisienne is also sold in Austria and Germany.
