Park Royal is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Ealing . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 3 on Western Avenue ( A40 ). In 2013, 1.64 million passengers used this station served by the Piccadilly Line .

The Metropolitan District Railway (MDR; predecessor of today's District Line ) opened a new line from Ealing Common to South Harrow on June 23, 1903 . A few hundred meters north was the Park Royal & Twyford Abbey station , which opened up the exhibition grounds of the Royal Agricultural Society of England . This was closed on July 5, 1931 and replaced by today's station, which opened the following day. District Line trains stopped in Park Royal for almost a year until operations were transferred to the Piccadilly Line on July 4, 1932. From 1936 to 1947 the station name was Park Royal (Hanger Hill) ; the addition to brackets referred to a neighboring residential area.

At the beginning, the station building was a simple wooden structure, which was replaced in 1936 by a new structure by the architects Welch & Lander. It is based on the style coined by Charles Holden and combines functionalism with Art Deco . Landmarks are the circular entrance hall with high windows and adjoining a high square tower made of red bricks. The station has been a listed building ( Grade II ) since 1987 .
