Park Wan-su

Park Wan-su (* 1955 ) is a South Korean politician and mayor of Changwon since 2004 .

Park Wan-su was born in 1955 to a poor farming family. After attending the Masan Technical College , he studied at Kyungnam University . He studied at night because he worked in a factory during the day.

In 1979 he passed the Higher Civil Service Examination and served as a civil servant for over 20 years. He has served as Magistrate of Hapcheon County (1994), member of the provincial government of Gyeongsangnam-do (from 1995) and Vice Mayor of Gimhae (2000).

He received a Ph.D. in Public Administration at Kyungnam University and has published several books including Society With Principle and Society With Hope . In addition to his career as a civil servant, he was professor and in 2003 dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration at Kaya university .

June 2004, Park was elected mayor of Changwon in a special election. May 2006 he was re-elected. Since taking office, Changwon has received the title of City with the Best Quality of Life in Korea three times , namely in the years 2005 to 2007.
