The Parkhotel Schlangenbad at Rheingauer Straße 47 in Schlangenbad is a hotel from 1912 and the dominant building in Schlangenbad. The facade and interior are under monument protection .

history

From 1694 until the beginning of the 20th century, the first Schlangenbad spa house was located at the Parkhotel Schlangenbad. This was demolished in 1912 together with the Nassauer Hof opposite and the society house and replaced by a new building. The plans for this hotel with spa colonnade and spa garden were designed by Eugen Rückgauer and carried out by the construction company Philipp Holzmann . The building was renovated between 1987 and 1989.

The house was publicly owned for nearly a hundred years. At the turn of the millennium, a phase began in which major annual losses had to be absorbed due to the restructuring of the healthcare system. In 2004 the state bath was communalized, in 2005 the rheumatism center was privatized and in spring 2007 the Parkhotel was offered for sale. The highest bid of € 1,550,000 was submitted by a group of companies that also wanted to take over the local thermal or outdoor pool.

Since October 2016, the building has been used as a private acute clinic for mental and psychosomatic illnesses under the name “Parkklinik Schlangenbad” .
