Rail Transport Parliamentary Group

The Rail Transport Parliamentary Group (PGS) was founded in the German Bundestag in 1988 as the Rail Parliamentary Group . In 2003, the parliamentary group was renamed the Parliamentary Group for Rail Transport and expanded its range of work.

Martin Burkert (SPD) , member of the Bundestag, is the chairman of the cross-party group . Deputy chairmen are Matthias Gastel (Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen), Ulrich Lange (CSU) and Sabine Leidig (Die Linke). The management for the PGS is carried out by Thomas Hailer from the German Transport Forum .

The aim of the group is the "active dialogue between the members of parliament and executives of the rail transport companies and the rail industry on current issues".

The parliamentary group had more than 100 members in the 16th legislative period of the German Bundestag.
