The parliamentary elections in Mongolia in 2020 found in the June 24, 2020 Mongolia instead.

Electoral system

The 76 members of the Great State of Chural are elected by multiple votes in constituencies with several members. The electoral system was only decided when a new electoral law was passed on December 22, 2019. The changes were expected to marginalize smaller parties and effectively remove the voting rights of 150,000 Mongolian expatriates as they could not be registered in a particular constituency. The new electoral law also banned people found guilty of “corrupt practices” from voting.

Women's rights activists called for an increase in the gender quota for nominations from 20% to 30%, but failed. Female MPs currently make up 17% (13 seats) in parliament, the highest number since the first democratic elections in 1990.
