The Parochlus Lake is a shallow lake in Georgia . It is located west-northwest of Husvik Harbor at the head of the Karrakatta Valley .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1991 after the mosquito species Parochlus steinenii , whose larvae colonize the shallow water zone near the lake shore.
