Chin-Chao Lin

Chin-Chao Lin (* 1987 in Taitung ) is a Taiwanese conductor .

Life and professional activity

Chin-Chao Lin first studied orchestral conducting with Martin Sieghart at the Graz University of Music , later with Johannes Schlaefli at the Zurich University of the Arts . He attended master classes with Marc Albrecht , Pierre Boulez , Peter Eötvös , Bernard Haitink , Kurt Masur and David Zinman . In 2013 he received a scholarship for the Conductors' Forum at the German Music Council and attended master classes with Kristjan Järvi , Johannes Kalitzke , Markus Poschner , Roland Seiffarth and Mark Stringer. Then he was assistant to Daniel Raiskin as "Conductor-in-Progress" at the State Orchestra Rheinische Philharmonie in Koblenz .

Lin has assisted with well-known conductors and orchestras, such as David Zinman with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Günther Herbig with the National Symphony Orchestra Taiwan, Peter Eötvös with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra and Lothar Zagrosek with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and was as Répétiteur in numerous classical and modern opera productions. As a harpsichordist he could be heard at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam .

Chin-Chao Lin has already worked as a conductor with numerous well-known orchestras, such as the Lower Saxony State Orchestra Hanover , the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra. In 2014 he made guest appearances with the latter ensemble in Zurich, London , New York and Beijing .

Since the 2016/17 season he has been working at the Meiningen State Theater as first conductor and deputy of the GMD. In May 2018 he was appointed as the new General Music Director at the Regensburg Theater , making him the successor to Tetsurō Ban . He could be seen for the first time with a lively conducting performance on September 29, 2018 at the Hebstgala of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Regensburg.

Awards

  • 2011: Second prize at the first National Symphony Orchestra Competition in Taiwan
  • 2011: third prize at the fifth international Witold-Lutoslawski competition for young conductors in Poland
  • 2014: LVZ audience award at the German Operetta Award in the Musical Comedy , Leipzig .
