Markus Poschner (* 1971 in Munich ) is a German conductor and has been chief conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz since autumn 2017 .

Life and artistic work

Markus Poschner studied at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Hermann Michael . His mentors and sponsors included Sir Roger Norrington , Sir Colin Davis and the Finnish conducting teacher Jorma Panula . From 2000 to 2006 he was chief conductor of the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt . He then held the post of 1st Kapellmeister at the Komische Oper Berlin . There he worked with directors such as Hans Neuenfels , Peter Konwitschny , Andreas Homoki and Sebastian Baumgarten . In 2007 Markus Poschner moved to the Bremen Philharmonic and Theater Bremen as general music director .

The conductor is a regular guest u. a. the Munich Philharmonic and the Dresden Philharmonic . He has also conducted the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra , the Staatskapelle Halle, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz , the Berlin Konzerthausorchester, the orchestras of the Hessian State Theater and the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz, etc. In addition, Markus Poschner is a permanent guest conductor of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Chile and regularly conducts at renowned German music festivals, e.g. B. Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , Richard Strauss Days Garmisch-Partenkirchen, European Classic Festival Ruhr, Rheingau Music Festival. Guest appearances have taken him to Argentina, France, Austria, Japan and China.

Markus Poschner, who is also known as a jazz pianist, has worked with artists such as Klaus Maria Brandauer , Natalia Gutman , Giora Feidman , Bruno Jonas , Baiba Skride and Maximilian Schell .

He has been an honorary professor at the University of Bremen since the 2010/2011 winter semester . He holds courses in musicology and music education.

Since September 2017, he has been the successor to Dennis Russell Davies of the Bruckner Orchester Linz .

In Linz music theater Markus Poschner passes in the season 2019.20 the premieres of operas Le A Prophet of Giacomo Meyerbeer and Parsifal by Richard Wagner and the dance theater production Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky.
