from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Conductor Award (DDP) is an international competition for concert and opera conducting and serves to promote young talent for conductors of all nations who are younger than 32 years.

History of the price

The German Conductor Award is a competition initiated by the German Music Council (Bonn), which is held with the Cologne Philharmonic , the Cologne Opera , the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the WDR Symphony Orchestra . As a cultural partner, the competition is accompanied by the media of the culture wave WDR 3 of Westdeutscher Rundfunk. Initially, this prize was first awarded in 1995 as a prize by the Conductors' Forum to outstanding scholarship holders of the funding program, then in 2017 it was held internationally for the first time and is held every two years.
