Lower Saxony State Orchestra Hanover

The Lower Saxony State Orchestra Hanover is a state orchestra in the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover . It is the orchestra of the Hanover Opera House .

history

In 1636 it was founded by Duke Georg von Calenberg as a court orchestra . Since January 1st 1970 it belongs to the Lower Saxony State Theater Hannover GmbH. It currently has 105 members (as of 2020).

In addition to daily changing opera and ballet performances, eight symphony concerts as well as numerous special concerts, children, youth and chamber concerts are developed per season . Soloists for the symphony concerts in recent years have included Yehudi Menuhin , Pinchas Zukerman , Viktor Tretyakov , Christian Tetzlaff , Antje Weithaas and Baiba Skride .

The orchestra regularly makes guest appearances abroad.
