Tetsuro Ban

Tetsurō Ban ( Japanese 阪 哲朗 , Ban Tetsurō ; * 1968 in Kyōto , Japan) is a Japanese conductor .

Life

Ban, who took piano lessons from the age of four, studied composition at the Kyōto Municipal Art Academy and conducted the NHK Osaka radio choir for the first time at the age of 19 .

He has lived in Europe since 1990, initially continuing his conducting studies with Karl Österreicher in Vienna and working as an assistant to Michael Tilson Thomas and Christoph Eschenbach . In October 1995 he won first prize at the conducting competition in Besançon .

After engagements at the Brandenburger Theater and the Komische Oper Berlin , he was appointed general music director of the Landeskapelle Eisenach in 2005 .

Since the season 2009/2010 is Tetsuro Ban musical director at the Theater Regensburg and has stopped this activity to the end of the season in 2017 and has returned to his home country.
