The Schanzenkopf is a wooded elevation in the Nahe region on the northern side of the Nahe, facing the Soonwald and Hunsrück .
It is centrally located between Rheinhessen , the Soonwald and the North Palatinate Bergland . The 321 m high mountain is located approx. 1 km west of the district town of Bad Kreuznach . A branch of the Schanzenkopf is the Rotenfels , south of the highest point. With a height difference of 202 m, the Rotenfels is the highest steep face north of the Alps in Germany. Other neighboring communities are Rüdesheim in the north-west, Hüffelsheim in the west, Traisen and Norheim in the south-west and Bad Münster am Stein Ebernburg in the south.
Telecommunications tower
The Bad Kreuznach telecommunications tower of type 2 is located on the elevation . The tower in the Bad Kreuznach district is operated by T-Systems (broadcast technology) and, at 127 m, is the tallest structure in the Bad Kreuznach district . The tower is owned by the Telekom subsidiary Deutsche Funkturm GmbH .
