Parodia neoarechavaletae is a species of plant in the genus Parodia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet neoarechavaletae honors the pharmacist and botanist José Arechavaleta y Balpardo .

Parodia neoarechavaletae grows individually. The dark green spherical shoots reach a diameter of 3 to 10 centimeters. The apex of the shoot is woolly and thorny. The ribs, which are rounded from 13 to 21, are divided into low humps. The one to four strong central spines point downwards and have a length of up to 2 centimeters. They are gray with a brownish tip or almost uniformly black. The five to nine thin, spreading radial spines are whitish and up to 2 centimeters long.

The golden yellow flowers reach lengths of 3 to 4 centimeters. The scars are dark red. The white fruits have lengths of up to 2 centimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Parodia neoarechavaletae is common in Uruguay and possibly neighboring Argentina .

The first description as Notocactus neoarechavaletae by Radim Havlíček was published in 1989. David Richard Hunt placed the species in the genus Parodia in 1997 .

The description and taxonomic status of Parodia neoarechavaletae is very uncertain.

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Vulnerable (VU) ", d. H. listed as endangered.
