Parodia turbinata is a species of the genus Parodia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet turbinata comes from Latin , means 'conically pointed' and refers to the shape of the shoots.
description
Parodia turbinata usually grows individually. The dark green, flattened spherical to disc-shaped shoots reach a diameter of up to 15 centimeters. A large taproot is formed. The twelve to 20 (or occasionally more) low, rather sharp-edged ribs are thickened around the areoles . The initially yellowish white thorns turn gray later. There is a single central spine that can also be missing. The five to ten straight radial spines often fall off partially.
The broad, funnel-shaped, yellow flowers reach a diameter of up to 3.5 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with pink scales. The scaled axilla has white wool and a brown bristle each. The scars are dark red. The red, club-shaped fruits are up to 2 centimeters long. They contain helmet-shaped, shiny, black seeds about 1 millimeter in length that are barely humped.
