Parque Patria was the first football stadium in the Mexican city of León , where the club León Atlético , founded in 1920 by the football pioneer Diego Mosqueda, and later also the Union de Curtidores, founded in 1928, played their home games during the amateur phase of football in Mexico unsubscribe.
The Parque Patria was also the home of the newly formed León FC , which was launched in 1944 to compete in the Mexican professional league . On August 20, 1944, León FC's debut in the Mexican professional league against Club Atlante was played here. The unexpected 5-3 victory of the newly formed team over the Atlantistas laid the foundation for a long and intense rivalry .
The old and much too small Parque Patria was only used during the first professional season of León FC in 1944/45 . As early as 1945, the team played their home games in the newly opened Estadio Enrique Fernández Martínez and in 1950 moved to the now expanded Estadio La Martinica .
