The Parry Patch is a shoal in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In Nelson Strait , it is 5 km northwest of Harmony Point on Nelson Island .
Richard Sherratt (1774 – unknown), captain of the sealer Lady Trowbridge from Liverpool , who operated in the area around the South Shetland Islands between 1820 and 1821, named the strait known today as Nelson Strait as Parry's Straits or Perry's Straits . However, this name did not prevail. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred Sherrat's designation to the shoal described here in 1962. It is probably named after the British polar explorer William Edward Parry (1790–1855).
