Pasch is a German blues rock band from Thuringia . The band was founded in 1983 by Wilfried Willi Woigk in Gotha and was one of the top bands on the blues scene in the GDR .

Band history

The band was founded in 1983 by Willi Woigk (bass guitar, vocals). Woigk had previously played in the beat band The Polars, which later became the band Blues vital . Influenced by the new guitarist Werner Zentgraf, this band changed its name and musical style at the end of the 1970s, whereupon Woigk re-established the band Polars in 1981, founded Pasch in 1983 and played in both bands at the same time.

The band's musical role models were Roger Chapman and Eric Burdon . More and more own German-language titles were created, for which the singer Andreas Kirsche Kirchner was mainly responsible, whose model was the band Ton Steine Scherben . The lyrics, predominantly with system-critical content, meant that the band increasingly had to struggle with reprisals and performance bans and was avoided by the GDR media. Nevertheless, their appearances ensured full houses throughout the republic. Neither posters nor advertisements were required for this. The performance dates were passed on from word to mouth within the scene. The increasing pressure on the tape and disagreements over its further musical development resulted in cherry and Klaus Mueller of Baczko left in 1987 Pasch and cherry & Co. founded. Andre Greiner-Pol (AGP) and guitarist Gerry Franke von Freygang then joined the band, circumventing their ban on performing and using false names . When Woigk and his daughter moved to Konstanz on Lake Constance in 1988, when Hillert also left the band and the "heyday" of the blues in the GDR was over, the band became quieter.

The band has remained a live band to this day. Parallel to the current line-up around Lothar Wilke, the band, under the direction of Wilfried Willi Woigk, also plays again in the line-up from 1986.
