Passion retable (St. Katharina, Schwäbisch Hall)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the choir of the Church of St. Katharina in Schwäbisch Hall there is a late Gothic altarpiece depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ , an imported piece from the Netherlands.

The shrine and the sculptures were made before 1449 in the workshop of Willem Ards in Leuven , the paintings of the wings before 1450–51 in Leuven. The predella was added later. The altar was restored in 1858 by Groß and in 1900 by B. Schmidt.
