Patapon ( Japanese パ タ ポ ン ), from onomatopoeic patapata for a knocking sound and ponpon for a clapping sound, is a cross-genre game for the PSP . It contains game elements from the areas of music , real-time strategy and god simulation . The player is in the position of a god who directs the cartoon-like figures of a primitive tribe by means of the rhythmic beating of traditional talking drums . The game comes from the developers of the game LocoRoco .

Gameplay

The player controls a “ tribe ” that sends out the military structures of “ infantry ”, “ cavalry ” and “ archers ”. At the beginning of the game, only a few locals with spears are available to the player. But as the game progresses, the military repertoire grows in the form of more units, stronger fighters and more powerful weapons. The army is commanded through the use of " talking drums ", whereby each of the four keyboard buttons of the PSP is assigned a specific sound (circle = pon, triangle = chaka, square = pata, cross = don). Different combinations of sounds evoke different reactions in the army, such as special attacks or defense mechanisms. The better the rhythm is kept, the more likely it is that the army will get into such a trance-like state (fever) that they will improve their attacks or their speed many times over, which is especially important when fighting bosses . However, one should also know that if the rhythm is kept wrong, this inevitably leads to the fact that the Patapons are condemned to doing nothing or taking other actions than the planned one, which again affects the entire course of the game.

action

The Patapons were a happy and prosperous society before they were nearly destroyed by the evil Zigotons. The player now takes on the role of your god, who leads you on the campaign, the aim of which is to restore the former splendor of the Patapon tribe. As the story progresses, the Patapons undertake a journey to the end of the world to see “IT”, the sacred object, whose appearance and purpose are unknown to the tribe.
