Patensie is a small town that belongs to the Sarah Baartman district and is located in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa . Not far from it are the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve and the Cockscomb Mountain , the second highest mountain in the Eastern Cape Province. The name Patensie comes from a Khoikhoi word that means resting place for the cattle . In the area around the city, mainly citrus fruits and tobacco are grown, which are supplied with sufficient water by the nearby Kouga Dam . In addition, tourism is beginning to play a bigger role.
Patensie was founded in 1858 and had 5263 inhabitants in 2011.
