Paterna sane

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Apostolic Exhortation Paterna sane , dated February 2, 1926, to the Bishops , the clergy and the faithful of Mexico , was written by Pope Pius XI. It is the demand for civil rights and common duties without the intervention of political parties.

In this letter he protests vehemently against the expulsion of the papal delegate from Mexico (1924) and describes this measure as an insult. Furthermore, he disapproves of an article of the Federal Constitution of 1917, which from the perspective of the Holy See would be understood as "hostility" against the Catholic Church .

In conclusion, he wished the bishops of Mexico an improvement in the tense situation and hoped for good cooperation between the Mexican government and the Catholic Church.
