Bullrich patio

The Patio Bullrich is a shopping center in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . It is located in the Retiro district on Avenida del Libertador .

overview

The Patio Bullrich was originally built in 1867 by the English architect Juan Waldorp as an auction house for cattle and consignment house for the company Adolfo Bullrich y Cía , managed by Adolfo Bullrich , and was used for this purpose for over 100 years.

The rising property prices in the high-priced district of Retiro prompted the family to sell the property on Avenida del Libertador to Alto Palermo, SA , one of the leading building contractors in the 1980s. Alto Palermo commissioned the architects Pfeifer & Zurdo with the conversion into a shopping center. They designed a six-story shopping arcade that has retained some of Waldorp's original details, including a. the clock tower, sculptures and the neoclassical facade.

Opened in August 1988, Patio Bullrich was the first in a line of upscale shopping malls to replace old favorites in the city, including Galerías Pacífico . In 1995 the Bullrich patio was modernized and expanded. In addition to numerous shops, the complex now also includes four cinemas.
