Patrick Pascal Onya (born December 14, 1974 in Gali , Bauchi ) is a former Nigerian soccer player and today's soccer official.

Career

Patrick started his career with Wunti FC of Bauchi. In 1992 he started his professional career in the Nigerian Premier League for Gombe United . After a year in Gombe, he moved to Shooting Stars FC . There he developed into a high performer and was loaned to the Belgian second division club KSV Waregem in January 1994 . After eighteen months in Belgium, he returned to Shooting Stars FC. He stayed there until January 2, 1997 and moved to Turkey to Gençlerbirliği Ankara . In Ankara, he made 29 appearances as a striker in seven months and scored 11 goals. In September 1997 he returned to Belgium and signed for Verbroedering Denderhoutem . He stayed there until November 18, 1997 and then signed with Altay Izmir. Onya played 45 games until his contract expired on May 30, 1999. After the season he returned to Belgium and, after successful trial training, signed with Royal Antwerp in January 2001. After he came to nine missions in the second half of the 2001/02 season, he moved to the Belgian amateur club Koninklijke Ternesse Voetbalvereniging Wommelgem . After five and a half years with K. Ternesse VV, he moved to the Provinciale for FC Apollo-Nielse in January 2006 . There he ended his career in 2009 and returned to Nigeria .

National team

Patrick played in four international matches for the Nigerian national soccer team in 1998 and 1999 .

Career as a functionary

After the end of his playing career he became president of the Nigerian Premier League club Wikki Tourists . He held this job until spring 2012 and then became a “Special Assistant” for the youth teams of the Nigeria Football Federation . He also works as the “youth work leader” for the Bauchi Football Association .
