Life

Childhood and youth

Patrick Redmond was born in Essex, England, to a lawyer and a teacher. Unlike later described in his first novel "Das Wunschspiel", his school days were very harmonious. He was also very active in hockey, tennis and athletics. He had already written many short stories during his school days. Although his parents encouraged him, he later found that his earliest childhood works do not need to be mentioned today. At the age of 15 he moved to Guernsey on the Channel Islands and completed his school career there.

Education

After graduating from school, he spent a year doing odd jobs and traveling before finally, at the insistence of his father, started studying law at the University of Leicester and graduated from the renowned University of British Columbia in Vancouver / Canada . During his student days he was shaped by dealing with a wide variety of characters; at the same time he also learned the importance of the structures of individual events - important for the later work as an author and the literary structure of his books. He found his stay in Canada a wonderful, memorable time. Nevertheless, he got very homesick and eventually moved back to London .

Professional and writing life

Immediately after completing his studies, he began working as a lawyer in London , where he specialized in European and commercial law in various law firms. During these 10 years he found time to write again and again. In parallel to his work as a lawyer, he wrote two novels that were never published after general rejection by the publishers. The third story, however, was also his debut novel "Das Wunschspiel" and brought about his literary breakthrough. The novel was in the bestseller lists in many countries, including Germany , England , the USA and Italy . In the meantime he has given up his work in law firms and devotes himself exclusively to writing. He currently lives in West London.
