Remarks

On August 18, 1845, a patriotic festival of the Tyroleans took place in Tivoli in Vienna . The battles on Berg Isel were remembered and the memory of Andreas Hofer was kept high. At this event, the waltz Berglieder by the younger Johann Strauss was premiered. The composer himself succeeded the late Josef Lanner as conductor of the chapel of the 2nd Vienna Citizens' Regiment. Incidentally, the conductor of the 1st Vienna Citizens Regiment was his father . The vigilante groups existed until 1848 and the bands occasionally appeared on special occasions. Otherwise, both the father and son Straus conducted their own dance orchestras. At the festival on August 18, both orchestras of the young Strauss performed the Patriots March together. The work was written specifically for the national character of the event. The march was well received and was dedicated by the composer to the officer corps of the 2nd Vienna Civil Guard.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 37 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
