The Patterned Lake ( English for patterned lake ) is a pear-shaped, epiglacial lake in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In the Framnes Mountains, it lies on the edge of a plateau at the far northern end of the Central Masson Range .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the distinctive patterns that are formed by large ice crystals on the surface of the lake.
