Paul Arnold Nelles (* 1923 in Duisburg ; † November 17, 2005 ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

The lawyer Nelles was a council member of the city ​​of Bochum and became an alderman there in 1962. From 1971 to 1988 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs in the SPD governments of North Rhine-Westphalia led by Prime Ministers Heinz Kühn and Johannes Rau . From 1995 he was chairman of the board of the Society for the Promotion of Air Hygiene and Silicosis Research of the Medical Institute of the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .

Honors

Nelles was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on November 3, 1994 .
