Paul Bender (politician)

Paul Bender (born March 19, 1893 in Barmen ; † January 18, 1975 ) was a German KPD politician .

Life and work

After 1933, Bender was responsible for setting up illegal trade union groups in companies in Barmen . He looked after the groups at Tölle , Homberg and Schnutenhaus . He was therefore sentenced in a trial in 1935 to eight years in prison.

After the Second World War , he became deputy chairman of the DGB in Wuppertal in September 1945 . Until 1952 he worked as the secretary of the Chemical, Paper and Ceramic Union .

Political party

Bender was a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD).

In 1946, Bender was a member of the first appointed state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .
