Ernst Hugo Paul Berthold (born June 30, 1855 in Berlin ; † August 29, 1917 in Blumenthal ) was a Prussian district administrator. His work was on social policy.

biography

Berthold grew up in Magdeburg and Hanover. After finishing school, he studied law and economics at the universities of Heidelberg and Göttingen . After a few stations in the Prussian administration he came in 1884 in the district of Blumenthal and was there a year later district . The office of beach captain von Blumenthal and membership in the Hanoverian provincial committee were connected with this position. Berthold took care of the establishment of administrations in the associated communities. He looked after the farmers with the reclamation of wasteland and with the protection of their lands outside the dike.

Due to the growth of some local companies (including the Bremer Woll-Kämmerei ), the population increased steadily. He addressed the problems that this caused extensively. He promoted the improvement of traffic conditions, founded the local district hospital (later the Bremen-Nord Clinic ) and the Spar- und Bauverein Blumenthal eGmbH (today part of Gewosie ). Despite all settlement plans, it also received the Löh forest as a recreation area for the population.

The Association of Building Cooperatives in Germany, which he co-founded, made him its chairman.
