Paul Anthony Elliott Bew, Baron Bew (born January 22, 1950 in Belfast ), is a Northern Irish historian and politician.

Career

He has been with Queen's University of Belfast , Northern Ireland , since 1979 . He has been Professor of Irish Politics since 1991.

Bew was promoted to Life Peer on March 26, 2007 as Baron Bew , of Donegore in the County of Antrim, and has been a Crossbencher in the House of Lords ever since . He was an advisor to David Trimble . From 1998 to 2001 he was historical advisor to the Northern Ireland Bloody Sunday research . He published numerous books. He has been a member of the Royal Irish Academy since 2004 .

family

Bew is married to Greta Jones, a history professor at the University of Ulster . He has a daughter with her.
