Kerstin Pressler

Kerstin Preßler (born February 2, 1962 in Augsburg ) is a former German long-distance runner .

In 1986 she won her first of four national championship titles in the 10,000 meter run (more followed in 1987, 1988 and 1990), won the Darmstadt city run and became German champion in road running over the distance of 25 kilometers. The following year she won the 25 km from Berlin , in which she had finished second in the two previous years. At the World Athletics Championships in 1987 , she was tenth over 10,000 meters in the German record time of 31: 56.80 minutes. Shortly afterwards she won the Berlin Marathon with the course record of 2:31:22 h, and in the spring of the following year she was runner- up in the Hamburg Marathon in 2:30:37 h.

In the marathon of the Olympic Games in 1988 she came in 21st place as the best German runner. In the New York City Marathon that year she was fifth.

In 1989 she became German runner-up in cross-country and over 10,000 meters and took third place in the Berlin Marathon. In 1990 she won the Houston Marathon and the Frankfurt Marathon , and she was also the German champion in the 15 kilometer road race and second in the Pittsburgh Marathon. In 1991 she won the Paderborn Easter run on the 10-kilometer route. In 1992 she set her personal record as third in the Los Angeles Marathon with 2:29:40 h and won her third national title in road running (again over 15 kilometers). At the Olympic Games in 1992 she failed over 10,000 meters in the run. At the end of her competitive sports career, she finished tenth in the New York City Marathon this fall.

The 1.60 m tall and 50 kg heavy athlete started for the Neuköllner Sportfreunde , LAC Halensee and OSC Berlin . In 2002 she became the European senior champion over 10,000 meters and won the national marathon title with the OSC Berlin team .
