Paul Buck

Paul Buck (born March 29, 1911 in Aalen , † March 16, 2006 in Radolfzell ) was a German piano teacher.

Paul Buck studied piano from 1932 at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart with the Max Pauer student Hans von Besele . In 1934 he was given a teaching position at the Stuttgart University of Music. Interrupted by the Second World War , Paul Buck remained connected to the university for several decades, from 1964 to 1979 as a professor of piano.

In addition to Gerhard Oppitz, his students included other well-known artists such as Konrad Elser , Hartmut Höll (frequent piano accompanist for singers such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau ), the jazz musician Frieder Berlin , Michael Hauber (member of the Trio Opus 8 ), the composer Susanne Hinkelbein and the pianist Yorck Kronenberg . More than ten of his students now hold professorships at music colleges.

Works

Paul Buck was also an intimate connoisseur of Richard Wagner's works and the author of a musical analysis of Wagner's opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg .
