Paul Eppel

Paul Eppel (born June 29, 1918 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ; † April 21, 2009 there ) was one of the most successful German long-distance runners .

In the early 1960s, Eppel, who was a businessman by profession, began to take part in running events at home and abroad. From 1962 to 1990 he won 4,214 participant medals. This record earned him the entry "most famous popular runner" in the Guinness Book of Records . The record book recorded him for 15 years. He is said to have covered a total of over 100,000 kilometers in competitions and has thus circled the globe several times. Eppel took part in people's and marathons , including in Japan and the USA.
