Paul Fischli (born May 6, 1945 in Glarus ) is a former Swiss football player and football coach .

Club career

Paul Fischli began his football career with the juniors of FC Glarus . There he played in the first team as a 16-year-old. At the end of the 1961/62 season, the team rose to the 2nd division (with Paul Fischli as a 17-year-old team support). The 16-year-old Fritz Künzli and Fritz "Ypsch" Hösli , who later became president of FC Glarus in its NLB times, were also part of this team .

In 1965, Fischli moved to the Young Fellows Zurich in the National League A after the team had been promoted at the end of the 1964/65 season . Fischli played at the club for three years, but the team was relegated again in the 1967/68 season and the YF club management then sold the whole team.

In August 1968 he moved to FC Basel . With FCB he was five times Swiss champion , one time cup winner and one time Swiss league cup winner . In all of his time in Basel, Paul Fischli was never a professional. For ten years he worked at Kost Sport in Basel, in the workshop for tennis rackets and skis.

In the 1979/80 season, Fischli moved to FC Münchenstein in the 3rd division as a player-coach. At the end of the season, the team rose to the 2nd division . Under Fischli, the team remained unbeaten for 45 games.

In 1981 Fischli moved to FC Aarau , stopped playing a year later, but remained as coach of the first team for six months .
